WHAT WE DO

Community Land Trust - HEArts 1.jpg

Community Land Trust

A community land trust is a way for people to come together to own and control land for the good of the community.

We established the Mott Haven-Port Morris Community Land Stewards to acquire land for public use.

This ensures that community members preserve a stake in our neighborhood.

Community Managed Waterfront

In the South Bronx, our waterfront is dotted with waste transfer stations and power plants.

We envision transforming the Mott Haven-Port Morris waterfront into a public space for residents to enjoy.

This will also address climate change impacts by helping prevent flooding and protect the community.

Community Organizing & Advocacy

The South Bronx has a long history of organizing and advocacy. It is how we have persevered.

Community organizing and advocacy can take many forms, from direct actions and demonstrations to voter mobilization and base building.

Public Policy & Legislative Organizing

We advocate for public policies that promote equity and improve the health and well-being of our community. Our goal is to create forward-thinking legislation that addresses long-term impacts.

Workshops & Trainings

Grassroots power is the foundation of strong, thriving neighborhoods. That's why we're launching a program to train our neighbors in community organizing, advocacy, and public policy.

We believe that creating change starts with building a community of informed and engaged residents ready to take action.

Studies & Collaborations

As a small organization, partnerships help us expand our impact.

We are currently working with Columbia University, Pratt Institute, Hester Street Collaborative, and the University of Pennsylvania on several initiatives.
