OTI Celebrates Launch of Open Data Week 2024

NYC Office of Technology & Innovation

The New York City Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) today celebrated the start of the 8th annual NYC Open Data Week, featuring over 65 in-person and virtual events, including workshops, panels, walking tours and a weeklong art exhibition. Open Data Week, organized by OTI’s Open Data Team, BetaNYC, and Data through Design, will convene data enthusiasts and experts for events between March 16-24 that explore public data’s connection to environmental justice, genealogy research, and poverty reduction efforts, as well as daily online workshops for beginners to learn how to use NYC Open Data. Festivities kick off tonight with the launch of the annual Data Through Design art exhibition at BRIC House in downtown Brooklyn.

“NYC Open Data is an unparalleled public resource that empowers New Yorkers to learn about, engage with, and better understand their city and government,” said New York City Chief Technology Matthew Fraser. “This year’s Open Data Week offers participants daily opportunities to learn how they can use and benefit from this publicly accessible information, as well as dozens of events that examine data’s various impacts across our city. Thanks to OTI’s Open Data Team, as well as fellow organizers BetaNYC and Data Through Design, for your continuous efforts to celebrate public data.”
